We are Hawthorn Class. Our Teacher is Mrs Holmes and our Teaching Assistant is Ms Naylor. Some of us also work with Mrs Percy and Miss Jones.
We are now in our final year at Church Drive and appreciate what an important and special time this is for us. In preparation for our move to high school next year, we are encouraged to take responsibility for various aspects of school life. We fulfil a variety of roles, including those of Head Boy/Girl and Deputy Head Boy/Girl, prefects, school enterprise representatives and sports leaders. We are always mindful of our most important role, however: to aspire to be the best role-models we can for other children in the school.
End of Key Stage assessment and the transition to high school are fast approaching, and for this reason we are expected to produce work of the highest standard at home and at school. We read regularly at home (daily if possible), ensuring that we return our Reading Record to school every day. Luckily, there is always someone in class who can recommend a new book or author for us to enjoy, and we love sharing our new reading discoveries with each other and spending quality time in our Harry Potter themed Book Corner. We try to practise our times tables every evening, as we know that this will help our daily work in Maths. We also complete a creative piece of homework fortnightly. Key skills such as further times table practice, arithmetic, spellings and handwriting are visited daily within school. British Values, PSHE and SMSC are covered discretely within assembly and reflection time, and are also embedded within our wider curriculum.
