Foxes and Hedgehogs: Foundation Stage 2
We are Hedgehogs Class and Foxes Class. Our Teachers are Miss Cuddy, Miss Gillen and Miss Tyson. Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Ellis, Mrs Humphreys and Mrs O'Callaghan.
We spend lots of time learning our rules and routines in the autumn term. In school we use ‘Good to be Green’ as our behaviour system. As a reward for ‘staying in green’ we have special Golden Time activities each Friday afternoon.
In class we have a growing tree; each time a child shows kindness, their name is written on a leaf and put onto the tree'
We also have 'WOW's in Foxes and Hedgehogs Classes: when we do something that 'blows our teacher's socks off!' we get a WOW. Our Mummies and Daddies can also complete them and bring them in.
We learn about all our letter sounds in Read Write Inc. (RWI). We also focus lots on learning to hear rhyme and to keep a steady beat as this helps us learn to read. We are getting to know the Oxford Reading Tree characters from our reading scheme and we share stories every day.
We have ‘Funky Fingers’ activities every day to help our finger and arm strength ready for writing. We all exercise each afternoon when we dance and move to ‘Wake and Shake’!
The door is open to the outdoor space each day and on wet days waterproof suits and wellies are available if necessary.
We also have mathematics every day and are learning to count accurately and to recognise and order numbers.
As you can see, our day is long and busy!
